Classes

We currently offer 3 kinds of classes:

  • Beginning/Intro Tai Chi: Learning the solo form, one posture at a time. It takes about a year to learn the 60 movement form, which we do in 10 week increments. Some students will use the initial 10 week course as an introduction, and be content with that, while others will use it as a beginning, and continue, hopefully to become lifelong practitioners.
  • Form Refinement: After students complete the form, they can choose between repeating part or all of the beginning course, or move into form refinement, where we start to fine tune the subtleties of the movements. Student and instructor confer on which of these paths to follow.
  • Sensing Hands: These two-person exercises, traditionally called “Tui Shou”, which translates as “Push Hands”, are the beginning of martial Tai Chi. Rather than being competitive, they are cooperative exercises aimed at developing martial sensitivity. While students who choose this route usually do so after completing the solo form, there are some cases where students with previous experience can join while still studying the form.

All Classes are held at the Int’l School of Shiatsu, located in Plumsteadville PA. Click on the address below to go to the location on Google Maps.
